PTSD and Survivors

Thanks to all the participants in the Coalition Workshop on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders and Holocaust Survivors held at Cumberland County College on 4/18. They included:

Sam Levy of Cumberland County Mental Health and Addictions Board and National Alliance on Mental Illness as facilitator, Hellen Greenblatt, PhD per Anti-Inflammatory Strategies,

Rachel Himley, LCSW, Clinical Director of Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May County,

Jamie Reichelt, Supervisor, Jewish Family Service and

Diana M. Pitman, Director, Cumberland County Department of Veterans Affairs.

There was a spirited discussion of how PTSD is defined, its origins and symptoms, coping mechanism, as well as extended discussion about Survivors, their children, soldiers who had experienced trauma in war, children who incur trauma and much more.

Thanks also to Coalition members for putting this together as well as the Jewish Federation of Cumberland County for its efforts... and Cumberland County College for its continued cooperation in Coalition events.

And of course, to the full room of persons who attended and engaged in questions and expression of points of view about this interesting subject.
