From Luther to Bonhoeffer - The German Protestant Church and the Holocaust

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24,2019

Mr. Anthony Iaconelli facilitaed an absorbing and lively discussion at this recent seminar. Beginning with an explanation of Protestantiam in comparison to other Christian branches and a history of events and people, he clarified the highpoints of historical significance of anti-semitism throughout the history of Christianity.

The beliefs of Martin Luther and the rise of his pronouncements set the stage for future anti-semitic actions, including the justifications  used by Hitler and the National Socialists.

Key Christian figures such as Martin Niemoller and especially Dietrich Bonehoeffer were focused on as voices of rationality and mindfulness of their time.
